Scent of Me by Cristy Flores

Hi, thank you so much for stopping by. My name is Cristy Flores. I make all-natural soy wax scented candles and wax bark. Let me tell you a little bit about myself, how I started my own business and how candle making has become such a cherished passion of mine.

My family and I have always strived to live a simple and uncomplicated lifestyle. This has pushed us to seek employment and careers that never take away from the more important things in life. At the beginning of 2020, I was looking for a new way to steadily bring in income and at the same time, something that could be done from home. You see, we had been planning to relocate to the East Coast and we were really looking forward to it, but then, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. It took over the world and our lives. My husband’s business, like many others, took a major hit and I found myself really searching and thinking about what I could do to help. 

 I started searching online to get an idea of what it would take to become a home based candle maker. It took a lot of time and a lot of research, but by the summer of 2020, I had developed an idea and a plan to make all-natural soy wax scented candles. I had made a list of everything I would need: tools, ingredients and the suppliers from which I would obtain these things from. Sometime around the fall, I started testing my products, created a website and signed up for social media. Shortly after that, on November 1st, my website went live and that same month I also started selling my products at my local farmers market. 

 It has been very exciting for me to see my business grow to the point where it’s at now. However, I get even more joy when my customers tell me that they really enjoy the scents and quality of my candles and wax bark (by the way, wax bark is just my take on wax melts) I am very grateful for the support I have received from my family, friends, and the different communities. It has been very heartwarming. 

 You can always expect the BEST quality when you purchase one of my products. I give each candle and item very careful attention. The care and handcrafted work that goes into each batch, is not only very satisfying for me, but I also aim to have my customers feel like they’re getting something very personal and special from me.
